Hunger Banquet Celebrating International Women's Day on March 8th

Join us for an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet at the Mercy Corps Action Center in lower Manhattan to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day! RSVP today at newyorkcity@oxfamactioncorps.org.

To celebrate Oxfam America's global efforts to empower women, Oxfam is organizing 100 events over 100 days. In New York City, we are hosting an event to focus on the courage of women worldwide who are struggling to feed their families while also confronting climate change and other threats to agriculture. We are convening to focus attention on the courageous role of women – as an example to us all, men and women – to be able to come together, stand up for our rights, and work together to create a better future. To do this, we are organizing an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet on March 8th from 7 to 9 pm at the Mercy Corps Action Center to End World Hunger in lower Manhattan. After the Hunger Banquet, few participants leave with full stomachs, but all possess a greater understanding of the problems of hunger and poverty–and will feel motivated to do something about it.

We will also be screening a new version of the film Sisters on the Planet that introduces four US women as they join with their global counterparts to confront hunger, poverty, and climate change. And we will be joined by a farmer from Mali, who will share her testimony from the front lines of food production amid poverty. Come hear her story and find out what you can do!
